Our Conservation Cemetery
Bluestem Conservation Cemetery is a signature program of Bluestem Community. It is a nonprofit cemetery designed and operated utilizing the tenets of simplicity, integrity, ecology and stewardship. Respect for the land and the individual are intertwined, creating a sacred restorative place for experiencing death, loss, grief, and memory, where nature is enough.
The cemetery is located within the nature preserve and open dawn to dusk for rest, reflection and regeneration. It supports the practice of natural burial (sometimes called green burial) and is open to people of all faiths and perspectives, spiritual seekers and those for whom nature is spirit, to participate in and experience the sacred, together.
We BelieveNature is a powerful healer.
Death and loss are shared human experiences worthy of active participation. The land’s natural resources are treasured gifts requiring respect and care. Our bodies at the end of our time can be returned to the earth simply. In our collective responsibility to care for the land, water and all living things. |
Natural BurialSometimes called green burial at Bluestem, this is a low impact option for returning our bodies to the earth simply, using bio- degradable caskets or shrouds. If an individual has chosen fire or water cremation, their ashes can be returned to the earth, simply and naturally, without the use of an urn. Learn more here.
