Bluestem's Conservation Cemetery is for people of all faiths and perspectives, both spiritual and cultural, to experience and participate in the sacred in nature. Open and accessible to all, the cemetery is where:
Bluestem's cemetery is designed and operated utilizing the tenets of simplicity, integrity, ecology and stewardship. Respect for the land and the individual are intertwined, creating a sacred restorative place for experiencing death, loss, grief, and memory, within the healing properties of nature.
We believe nature is a powerful healer.
We believe that death and loss are shared human experiences worthy of active participation.
We believe the land’s natural resources are treasured gifts requiring respect and care.
We believe our bodies at the end of our time can be returned to the earth simply.
We believe in our collective responsibility to care for the land, water and all living things.
- Individuals, families and friends can plan for the ceremony of their choosing and participate in the burial ritual
- Burial occurs within a restored landscape where native grasses, woodlands and wildlife is protected
- The cemetery and nature preserve are open dawn to dusk for rest, reflection and regeneration
- Bluestem volunteers can accompany and support grieving families

Natural BurialBurial at Bluestem is offered as a low impact option for full body burial with biodegradable caskets or shrouds, or ash burial, in a natural setting that restores and nurtures the land. Read about our green burial principles here and link to our Cemetery Guidelines here.

For VisitorsWe encourage visiting as often as you like, simply walking the trails, or finding places for spiritual reflection when you visit loved ones who are now one with the land. Leashed pets are welcome. All visitors are asked to follow the Bluestem Guidelines.
